last minute

We always use to go on trips on a whim. To Star Valley, to WY state wrestling championships in Casper, to Vegas, to snowmobile in Wyoming, to climb a mountain in Wyoming, to go camping (sometimes in Utah...), to whatever. Then, we had Scarlett. Dun dun dunnnn. Anything major had to be written in on the calendar in permanent marker weeks in advance. Until last week.

Michael called his family to ask about something Wednesday morning, then all of a sudden in was 10 o'clock at night and we are in the car heading east to Wyoming. And Michael had only decided to go an hour and a half earlier.

It ended up being really good, except for the part where someone went rafting on the Snake and left someone else with a sleepy baby and no ride home at a reception hall. So, that one person should get the other person a really awesome birthday gift.

We got to see Megan, Michael's niece, get married. It was super pretty. Doesn't going to weddings make you want to get married all over again?

That was the biggest highlight of the 3 days we spent in Star Valley, but we had some fun doing other fun things too.

We met the horses, or "me-mo" as Scarlett calls them. She just kept pointing and laughing.

Feeding the chickens, which turns out is quite dangerous. Scarlett and I turned into a 1 headed, 2 bodied monster.

Getting bored with chickens and going back to the horses.

Taking a ride!

Rocks?!?! Yeah, we don't have those in Portland....

Chilling in the grass, eating free popcorn from True Value–one of the many perks of visiting Thayne.

One of the other "perks" of visiting SV is doing the laundry when you get home. Scarlett was a walking ball of dirt. I don't know if her onesie tank will ever be white again.

Well. I am going to get some sleep. Still haven't caught up on sleep from driving overnight twice. Plus, I did an all day garage sale and made a whopping $42.75. Anyone want a TV, dresser, or baby swing? I know you do...Plus, I know someone that might be willing to get you a good deal on a leather couch!

i like zoo.

Today I went to the zoo.

I petted some goats.

Found out I am really short. Or am I? Looks like I'm at the 4 foot mark...

I saw some monkeys.

and lions. This was one of my favorite parts.

Me and the ladies.

Hippos.

Meercats!

Otters.

Tigers.

You have to brace yourself to watch the tigers...

Let's go again!

sea world. this one's for you, eden!

Over our last 2 week break (not last as in last week. Last as in never again will we have the luxury of taking 2 weeks off every 11 weeks!) we headed down to Las Vegas for a Nishimoto family reunion. Our immediate family decided to head to Sea World! Thanks to my awesome parents--otherwise Scarlett might not have seen such fun stuff!

Like polar bears.

Feeding the sea lions. Better watch your fish, otherwise the birds will attack you!

Sea stars! Every time Scarlett saw an open pool she tried to get in. We definitely have a little fish on our hands!

Aquarium with sea turtles. We got sick of taking Scarlett in and out of the stroller, so this was our solution.

Meeting "Momo" (after which she kept signing "more") and playing in the Sesame Street play area.

La Jolla Beach and tidal pools! We come here every time we go to San Diego. It never gets old.

Nothing like finding crabs in your crack.

It was so much fun to do this with almost my whole family! Although Scarlett got sick (and is still a little sick...and got her cousins sick) it was well worth it.

welcome to the gun show.

Hours may vary.

beach.

We took the opportunity to go to the beach a while back. And, oh Beach, will I miss you when we move.

Scarlett is fearless and loves water. Whenever we headed back to our little fire, she would try to head back to the waves. She kept signing "more" when we went to the beach in California over a week later.
