scarlett schmarlett

I hear this more than you would think, "She looks nothing like you." Yup, I know.

Because she looks exactly like this guy.

And I love it.

because ya'll asked so nicely

Here it is...a blurry picture of my hair.

What?!? Didn't you have this haircut before, Julie?

Ha Ha {pronounced all Nelson-esque (If you don't watch the Simpson's forget it)}. All that build up for nothing! ehehehe.

The best part is...it takes HALF the time to do my hair in the morning. Score! And I sleep so much better. The salon lady had never heard of anyone cutting their hair because they couldn't stand sleeping on it--it seriously drives me crazy!

i took the plunge

I have been wanting to cut my hair...oh, since I started growing it out. I made a deal with myself that I could cut it as soon as I reached a certain goal. I've almost reached it--I call it good enough anyway.

One problemo: Michael likes my long hair. For the first time in my life, I felt guilty about cutting my hair. I guess I came home one too many times with short hair without telling Michael where I was going. For example, I was sitting on the couch after I got my faux hawk cut, circa 2008. The first words out of his mouth as he walked through the front door was, "What did you do?!" I haven't done that to the poor boy since. But my hair was insanely cute, and I'd do it again if my face ever decides to skinny it on up.

Straw #1. I hate sleeping on long hair.

Straw #2. Scarlett's knew thing is rubbing her face in my shoulder and lovingly adding boogers to my newly laundered outfit and freshly washed hair.

Straw #3. Scarlett likes to keep a death grip on my hair.

Straw #4. It's hot.

Straw #5. I never do my hair anymore. Right up into a ponytail.

Straw #Last. My hair has been falling out by the handfuls since July, and I am sick of cleaning the bathroom floor after every time I do my hair.

No, no. This is not my bathroom floor. Although it
is a pretty close competitor. This is all the hair I got lopped off...after Michael convinced me to get it cut--or more or less chased me around trying to chop my hair off with a pair of Kitchenaid scissors so I would have to go get it cut because he was sick of me asking every two seconds, "Can I get my hair cut?" I have such a great husband.

What?

You wanted to see my hair?!

Muahahahaha!

fart

I needed something big for the wall in our family room. It needed to be cheap. Oh, and it also had to match our blue and orange thing going on. I liked this piece from Target. But for $70...I don't think so...

So, I got to thinking (a very dangerous task I might add) and paint samples are free, right? Lowe's must love me. I stole 200+ of these guys. But is it really stealing if they are free?

I haven't used my old drawing board in oh, 3 years? It was already framed (so it wouldn't warp when wet. Eh, nevermind...it's too long of an explanation). Paint chips + old drawing board + spray glue + sandpaper + paint
= Free Art.

Or Fart, as Michael would call it.

how have you been obedient?

Primary Kid #1: I was careful with my baby sister, because my mom said to be careful with babies.

Primary Kid #2: You shouldn't do Kung Fu to babies, because they might not like...get it.

they grow up so fast

I swear I blinked after I gave birth, and now Scarlett is four months old! What the heck?! In celebration, Scarlett decided she wanted to start a BLOG. Oh man, she's probably going to have her own I-phone before she's one.

We've created a monster.

if you ever thought so before...

...this definitely confirms it: Scarlett is such a Humpherys baby! She looks so much like Michael! The ears, the cheeks, the little round chin...I will, however, take claim for her cowlick. That's all mine!

Michael, Scarlett, and me--if you couldn't tell. ;) All around 3 months.

but i guess tall people make me feel small too...

Even though I do not love Portland as much as everyone claimed I would, there are quite a few neat sites within a few hours of where we live. We ventured out to Mt. St. Helens with the Simpsons on Saturday. It was gorgeous!

Then, I saw the before picture and felt a little jipped. I paid $8 to see only half a volcano?! Ugh..
{hopefully you sense my sarcasm}

Scarlett wasn't nearly as impressed that the top 1300 feet blew off in the 1980 eruption. She was more interested in her feet.

Snapped off like matchsticks 30 years ago.

Michael hiked Mt. St. Helens a month and a half ago. It was neat to see where he went, even though they hiked the opposite side. Note to others attempting the hike: bring sunscreen. If you look close enough in these pictures, you might be able to see the red spots on Michael's face that he either missed or rubbed the sunscreen off. Nice.

Nothing like a mountain to make you feel incredibly small.
