It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...

A plane! No really...

Michael loves airplanes. Here he is during his 2 week break working on a model airplane that will hopefully fly one day. Pilot in training working along side. Her mullet has since been taken care of.

When Michael discovered that the largest aviation museum in the Northwest was only an hour away, we had to go. But then we kept waffling over whether we should really go or not, because A. It was far. 2. Scarlett might be a grumpus pants and make the trip not even worth the $20 per person to get in. III. We are probably the world's best wafflers. Just come over on a Friday night and see how long it takes us to decide what movie to watch. Or if we are even going to watch a movie. Maybe we should invite someone over. Okay, then you call them. Nah, let's just watch a movie. 

We did end up going and of course Scarlett kept saying, "I want to sleep in my comfy crib. I'm tired. Can we please go home now?" She said it just like that...just add in some crying, whining, carrying, refused bottles, and 4 very sore arms. On our part. Scarlett only has 2...just in case you were wondering

Can you say trailer with wings? Bottom right is how cozy it is on the inside. No room for bags? No problem, it all stows away in the wings.

The crowning glory on the Evergreen Aviation Museum--The Spruce Goose (you know...Howard Hughes...The Aviator). This thing was MASSIVE. So massive I couldn't get a picture of the whole thing. I spy a Michael and a Little...can you?

 Random facts about the Sea Plane:
*Yes, it's a sea plane. Mr. Hughes was apparently afraid of drowning because every nook and cranny was filled with beach balls.
*It flew only once and was put in a specially made hanger until Mr. Hughes died.
*A full sized man can walk inside the wings.
*During it's one and only flight, men were in the wings checking on each engine (4 on each wing).
*The Spruce Goose is actually made of birch.
*It took 4 tons of nails to put this thing together. All 4 tons were pried out (only there to tack things in place until it all dried/cured).

We also visited the space part of the museum (whole separate building). Judging solely by aesthetics, this part had oober amounts of funding over the Aviation building. Top Right: Scarlett landing on the moon. Bottom Right: An actual piece of the Berlin Wall. Random? Left pictures: Space stuff.

Michael and the lightning plane (it has a real name...ask Michael). He made a smaller radio controlled one exactly like this way back in the day. As always, Scarlett is way more interested in something other than looking at the camera.

This is what she was looking at. She loves her cowgirl boots and looks just like her daddy...I should have known.
