I downsized the videos so I could post them! Hoorah!
This video doesn't do justice to Michael's crash. It looks like he just tipped over, but he definitely when head first over the handle bars. And sorry for my obnoxious laughing.
You can tell it's pretty steep when you can see Michael down to his knees after he rolled over a 4 foot drop off.
In this video I started from the bottom, where Michael landed and up to where we started. That last section looking up is practically vertical...hard to tell from the video though.
I definitely said poison oak...but it is definitely poison ivy. And I definitely fell down this hill just trying to walk down it. Nice.

A good ride....
Michael had memorial day off, so we went to Oxbow Park here in Oregon. Out of all the mountain bike paths we've tried here so far, Oxbow is by far my favorite. So worth the 1/2 hour drive and $4 fee. There were so many paths to follow and they were all densely forested and butted up against the Sandy River.

Huge clovers! I tried finding a four leafed one. I figured they would be extra lucky since they were ginormous. No such luck.
Your friendly neighborhood...err woodland spider. He spun his web between two trees perfectly face level when on a bike. He was grateful that Michael didn't ruin his web. Oh, and Michael was okay with not trying to pick that web out his nose and not having to search for that little spider down his shirt. He sure was a fierce little guy--he wasn't very excited about getting his picture taken...not Michael, the spider.
Wondering how the crap that tree was growing out of the side of this cliff that the trail ran along.
At the bottom of the cliff....the Sandy River.
Stopping to eat on a log. Michael really wanted to sit on a log. I did not. They were all soggy. Except this one. So, I lost. And we ate on a log.

Michael coming back from washing off poison ivy off his leg. After crashing on his bike and rolling through the stuff. A video might be coming...if I can get it to upload...
We made our way down to the river.
And we eventually made it home, and then off again to spend more hours in the sun at a BBQ.
All this three day weekendness makes me sad to be back on a normal schedule. But I am sure glad that I have someone like Michael to spend my time with. =) Even on normal days.

Do you see the resemblance?
I completely forgot that I did this until a couple of days ago. It kind of makes me giggle a little.
Before {slash} while Michael and I dated, I would refer to him as "ducky" as a code name to roomies and such, so people didn't know who we were talking about. I thought he looked like ducky from Land Before Time--that is if ducky was a boy.

Come on...they are practically twins!

Pinewood Derby Erby
I kept trying to get Michael to post about this, but he didn't want to. Thus making this post quite overdue. (That Red Rock post may be his one and only.)
A couple weeks ago our ward had a pinewood derby activity...for everyone! I love this idea. I did it as a youth, loved it, and got to use my car again for this one! I knew I kept my car for some reason.
I bought a car for Michael to do, because this is right up his alley. However, I never imagined how much time it would take!--especially when you don't have any power tools. He would work on his car over studying. He kept talking to me about the center of gravity, weighting, friction, and all these coefficients of whatnots that I just let him free and nodded like I knew what he was talking about.
You can definitely look at our cars and see how big of a difference there is in our personalities.
Michael=very logical. Julie=aesthetics mixed with a slight bit of laziness. This really shows when we try to buy things--Michael goes for most features, durability, and price while I look for color, cuteness, and does it match what we have.

Who do you think won?
Mine wasn't that fast, but he was AWESOME! It totally placed second to last! haha.
Yeah, and Michael definitely came in FIRST! Yay! All that time he spent payed off! The trial run was a little worrying when his car was dead last--I think it got caught on the track or something. But after that, first every time. Good job cwapface! What a smart boy.

I guess I kind of shop in the ghetto
I was at a grocery store here in Portland called WinCo. One of the main reasons I like going there is that I get to bag my own groceries. This may be a draw back for some, but I am slightly crazy about the way my food is handled, and it means no smushed bread when I get home or cans in with your produce. Like so...
So, I wander the aisles, get what I need in a not-so-timely manner, and mosey my way on over to the check out. The height deprived, portly man in front of me puts the divider behind his things and smiles. I smile back, because that's what you do. It's called manners. I hate people who look past you like they are completely oblivious to your presence. Sorry...tangent.
So, I am in line and this guy is jabbering to the cashier all about pretty ladies this and pretty ladies that. The cashier looks at me like, "Is this guy serious? WEIRDO." as everyone tries to ignore the situation in a normal fashion, but only manages to look very awkward. Needless to say, the cashier was happy to move on to the next customer.
Since you have to bag your own groceries, you usually end up bagging yours next to the person in front of you (food goes through cashier to 2 conveyor belts). As I am meticulously bagging away, the portly man finishes, turns to me and says, "This isn't anything personal," drooooooools, "but do you shop at Fred Meyer?"
"No."
I didn't hear a single word after that. Something about getting 10 of something for $10. I was too focused on what I should be doing--do I call him out on drooling or act like it didn't happen. I definitely ignored the social faux pas. Apparently, so did he. Gross. I feel bad for whoever uses the plastic bags at WinCo, because they totally have height deprived portly man slobber on them. Ewwww.

Etsy!
AH! I am featured in a treasury on Etsy! Mine's top center. If you have an Etsy account (or not...go sign up for one!) and leave a comment. Being in a treasury means that it could appear on Etsy's main page! Woohoo!

Go check out VintageEmbellishment...it's pretty awesome (they set up the Treasury I am featured in). I guess this is all part of their SneakAttacks to get newbies more sales. =) I feel pretty special that my shop has been up and actually running for less than a month and I am already featured in a Treasury! I guess things are looking up (I hope this SneakAttack actually works!)....and I need to start binding some more books!
