Dam Trip

We were feeling kind of like hermits, so we decided to take a trip to the Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery.

Fish Hatchery...

This is Herman the Sturgeon. In all his wonderful glory. He's 70 years old, weighs 450 lbs, and is 10 feet long. He didn't move once.

Then, we fed the rainbow trout. This was my favorite part of the day. I liked to throw food out where there weren't any fish to see who'd get it first. You'd think they were starving or something...

I think we'll come back in September or so. That's when the salmon should be spawning. More to see and do.

Bonneville Dam...

We went on the dam tour. With that dam fancy ranger looking guy on the left.

This thing is responsible for how we get electricity...who knew?

Fish ladder. The spawning salmon need to pass the 60 foot dam so the dam people kindly gave them a way, one foot at a time.
