Eviction Notice

Dear Little,

You sure are a stubborn little thing. You will contract and push down like you're going to fall out, especially if we are stuck in traffic, but then quit as soon as it lets up! What's the deal? I am walking around like I've had 3 kids before. I shouldn't be dialated to a 4 and still not be in labor. I guess you are just taking your time, enjoying your water bed, and packing up all your belongings before deciding to head out.

You are estimated around 7 pounds. I sure hope they are wrong. Since your chubby self hasn't come yet, we are kicking you out April 12, unless you want to move out anytime before, which would be nice.

See you soon!

Love,
Too huge to roll over anymore

Dam Trip

We were feeling kind of like hermits, so we decided to take a trip to the Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery.

Fish Hatchery...

This is Herman the Sturgeon. In all his wonderful glory. He's 70 years old, weighs 450 lbs, and is 10 feet long. He didn't move once.

Then, we fed the rainbow trout. This was my favorite part of the day. I liked to throw food out where there weren't any fish to see who'd get it first. You'd think they were starving or something...

I think we'll come back in September or so. That's when the salmon should be spawning. More to see and do.

Bonneville Dam...

We went on the dam tour. With that dam fancy ranger looking guy on the left.

This thing is responsible for how we get electricity...who knew?

Fish ladder. The spawning salmon need to pass the 60 foot dam so the dam people kindly gave them a way, one foot at a time.

Turbine place. And Michael.

The End.

glider make-over

We got a glider from a friend (thank you, Bateman's...and no, you can't have it back =) ). It clashed with our other furniture so we painted it and recovered it! I guess I wasn't done sewing!

I forgot to take a before picture, but this is pretty dang close. The only thing missing is ours has 3 covered buttons going up the center of the back.

Before...
After...
Some dark brown spray paint (the double coverage kind really does mean double coverage--we did this with a little over 1 can), plus, micro suede/micro fiber fabric and voila! We have a matching glider! The glider fabric is a little lighter than our couches (not quite as drastic as the picture shows), but oh well. I say, good enough!

sewing maniac

I think I was more productive on bed rest. I couldn't just sit, watch movies, and read all day--I did my fair share. For some odd reason, I needed to feel like I was getting something accomplished after going into labor. What was I thinking? I decided that sewing was a very low key activity. I made a list and got quite a bit done.

Reversible car seat tent/canopy thing using this tutorial. Michael picked out the fabric. Actually I was going to use another fabric that I had on hand that was cute, girly, and blue to match the car seat (that we ordered the weekend we got home from the hospital). I didn't have enough to make the pattern go the way I wanted. I didn't want to use the fabric I did, but Michael liked it better, and now I like it better too.

Matching reversible hooter hider (haha--get it...I used owls...hooters...) from here. Maybe it was because I was oober slow at everything the week after, but don't believe them when they say it'll only take 45 minutes.Mine isn't really reversible...it is...but it isn't. I would say it's lined...with silky fabric...nice and soft. This may be another reason it took so long; I had to use pins galore so nothing would shift.

And what the heck...matching burp cloths! It all turned out matching (kind of) by default...I couldn't go to the store, and this is what fabric I had the most of!

Flannel burp cloths. I really like these, because it makes those birds eye weaved diapers more rectangular rather than skiwampy shaped.

I started this quilt a while ago, did the top in Wyoming (before we moved to Oregon), added the fuzzy backing when we moved here, and finished the hand quilting on bed rest! It even has her name on it...hopefully we won't change our minds...

Elastic booties. I liked these until Michael asked if our baby was going to have duck feet. I think they have potential...needs a flower or some ribbon...or something...

These were much easier, and, in my opinion, much cuter.

All sewed out for now. I have a few things left on my list, but they might have to wait until Baby gets here, after which I will no longer have time to leisurely sew...hmmm....

dear little

I eat like a cow, and for all the food I eat...it's not all going to my thighs...it's going to yours. You have become quite the porker. Doc says you are estimated around 5 pounds.

You only have 5 more weeks until your due date, but it would be nice if you didn't wait that long to come out. Both you and me are running out of space. You like to stretch out sometimes, and sometimes it almost makes me pee my pants even if I did just go to the bathroom...but I guess you don't know what pants are or what a convenience it is to pee in a toilet. All in due time. Although it often hurts when you kick and move, I am going to miss it--that and when you get the hiccups. It's pretty cute.

You can start knocking again starting next Monday, March 22 or after...but no sooner. Dad has finals and National Boards--not that you know what those are. It just means at least 7 more late night dance parties and high-fiving Dad while I am trying to sleep before you can decide to come out. Deal? Deal.

Love,
Mom (ooo that is weird...)
