Worst tasting cookies ever.

We made cookies out of salt and flour.

We painted them.

We did not eat them.
(Even though we made them in the kitchen, put them on a cookie sheet, tossed them in the oven, then put them on a plate at the dinner table. No. We did not eat them.)

And we painted some more.

Painting is a messy job.

You can't have these.

We hung them.
I guess they are called ornaments, not cookies.
My bad.

 I took a bath.

The End.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I've been wanting to make stockings for years. One year (3 years ago) I even bought fabric....this year I finally made a stocking out of it! It's the stripe fabric if you're curious. Thanks to Michael's niece for the patteren...now we have cute stockings just like her!

And isn't our fireplace cute? It needs some puttying and paint and baseboard on the right, but it sure beats this.

We luckily got my great uncle's tree passed down to us. They are just getting too old to put there's up anymore. I got so ambitious I even made a tree skirt for our new beauty. I thought it was going to be a simple project. Note to self: never sew anything round ever again. And use an effing pattern.

Scarlett is wanting on the computer to type up her post. Go to her blog to see more of our festivities!

november in a nutshell

I found my trick or treat bag. I like chocolate. And what better place to eat it...right next to the trash can while sitting on a pack of TP.

You like my new glasses?

We set up the Christmas tree and got out the nativity, complete with garden gnome.

We like baths around here. I especially like to pee on the floor afterwards!

Happy November!

days like today

Four weeks ago we bought a 3rd car.

Yes.

A 3rd car.

If you really wanna know: Both our cars have been registered in Wyoming since we've been married, because technically we've been students and you're exempt from some rule that says if you live in "where ever", your car needs to be registered in "where ever". Well, not where ever...you know what I mean. Since, we moved to Vegas, neither of us are students, we do reside here, and we do work here. So, register our cars we must. But one big problem--Michael's car won't pass emissions, and it's pretty much on it's last leg. 300,000 miles is a long way for such a little Jetta. It would cost a couple thousand to fix. In hind sight...we maybe should have done that.

The "new" car was also a Jetta. We'll call it a lemon, so we mustn't get confused between old Jetta and "new" Jetta. Said lemon has spent the last few weeks in the shop having his transmission rebuilt.

Today was the day we were to get it back! I was so excited. I even made plans to go grocery shopping even though I didn't need to, just for the sake of shopping during daylight. Then, maybe we would hit the library and even the park.

We went together to get the car, and it wasn't done! We waited, and waited, and waited, and then, proceeded to pay them out the wazoo for all this. (What's a wazoo anyway?)

Michael, who was already late for work, took the lemon, and I drove home in the Corolla. I was almost home when he called from a gas station saying the car won't start. All this is 2 hours past nap time, mind you, and Michael's boss is calling him saying patients are backing up. I pick up Michael, drop him off at work, go back to the gas station to give the key to the mechanic, and finally head home to put exhausted baby to sleep.

I guess if we didn't have days/times like these, maybe we wouldn't appreciate the really good days. Here's hoping to have our car back by Thanksgiving!

And since a post is oober boring without a picture...
"What? Is there something on my face?!"

Halloween is so great it gets two posts.

The night started out at a friend's house with dinner in a pumpkin–the kid's were really cute with the orange-o-lanterns filled with grapes.

We got dressed and ready to go trick or treating. Scarlett was a super cute frog. We tried to teach her to ribbit and hop like a frog, but she just thought it was really funny and would get in quite a giggle fit whenever we did it.

Scarlett learns how to say, "Cheese!"

Using her newly learned "cheese" tactic in the field...

Trick or treating was a huge hit...almost too big a hit. Scarlett would not be carried, held, or piggy backed. She had to walk all by herself. Sounds kind of nice, but she tried going to every . single . house.  And don't even think about touching the candy bag!

Overall, it was a super fun night! It makes me miss being little, but we've got Little. Pretty good trade off if you ask me.

Today was the best.

I have yet to convince Michael that Halloween is one of the best holidays. Don't worry I'm working on him.

We went to Gilcrease Orchards to pick our own pumpkins. In Las Vegas! We didn't even go to a real pumpkin patch in Portland...

We started out with a good old free hay ride. Scarlett was a fan.

She's also a fan of picking "puppins". Seriously. We could have left her here for a couple of hours and she would have been happy as...a Scarlett searching for pumpkins.

What a bunch of goons. This picture just cracks me up. I couldn't not put it it.

We found our pumpkin, got some apple cider doughnuts, a half gallon of pear cider, and headed home in our air conditioned car. It was stinkin' hot! We were being a little hopeful with the long sleeves that it would be cooler...

I've been counting down to this for a long time.

Scarlett went to nursery at church today! And I went to class! I seriously waited 5 minutes to make sure she wouldn't freak out and then left. It was wonderful.

I was super excited to be able to sit through and be able to listen to an entire lesson. Although Scarlett's attention span is getting longer, I'm afraid that mine has now dwindled to nothing. I didn't know what to do with my hands since I was so used to waving "come back" or reaching for a book or luring with grapes. I also need to start bringing my scriptures again. They were just safer at home rather than within the reach of a squirrely toddler. Plus, they always ended up open on the chair next to me, which I never really sat in anyway.

I think this is one of my favorite stages (right next to 4-6 month olds). She is just so funny. And she knows it.

Scarlettisms at 18 months:

*Scarlett loves to "help" me cook dinner. This usually entails standing on a step stool, putting things in bowls, spilling things on the floor, and a lot of me saying, "Oh no! Stop!"

*Scarlett will not play outside by herself. She will not play with her toys by herself until someone comes to play with her. She will be your mirror.

*She loves rearranging my pantry. Or maybe we shop at Costco too much? I have to throw out any boxes or the whole pantry will be emptied. (p.s. You like our new tile? I DO!! Ha...anything to draw your attention away from my "super organized" pantry.)

*I tried to list all the words Scarlett knows and it was over 50. Don't worry, I won't list them for you. On top of that she will parrot just about anything you say.

*Her favorite word is  "no". If she is holding snacks and you look at her (no matter how far away you are), she will pull her snacks away from you and say, "Nooooo!" If you use her chair as a foot rest, be prepared to have your feet pushed off with a loud "NO!" followed up by a pretty good grimace.

*She likes her pink boots. Don't try to make her wear other shoes if she finds those.

*Scarlett loves to dance. It almost seems like an involuntary reflex sometimes.

*She makes an awesome funny face.

*She does have a Chiropractor Daddy. And no, she hasn't been weaned off bottles yet. Only for nap and bed time though...it's the only time she really cuddles...okay....I'm really the one that needs weaning.

(This picture was taken right after we moved in --hence the table, our backs were sore--
excuse our mess. Seriously, who takes pictures when they move! It's so disgusting.)

*Elmo is king. Cure for a bad day: Elmo. Cure for not wanting to eat: Elmo. Cure for my sanity: Elmo.

*Scarlett is not ready to be potty trained. I am not willing to pick up poop off the floor....yet.

We definitely like having our little shadow around. I almost feel a little naked when she's not by my side.
