i have a brother.

I actually have four, but today we're only talking about one of them.

Meet Jello.

Meet Jello and his wife, Sarah.

Jello plays the guitar. He teaches it at a high school.

Jello drives a hearse. His name is Steve.

Jello showers with his glasses on. He's that blind.

Jello unicycles. And he's dang good.

Jello sometimes dresses in drag. Sometimes it makes big football player guys whistle at him.

Other unknown facts about Jello:
-He bit off my deodorant stick. After which, he promptly spit it out and said it was disgusting.
-He started a band with me and Sarah.
-He owns the largest couch on planet earth.
-He once made me sniff a pile of pepper. He promised me it would smell great, "Just take as big of a whiff as you can."
-He got lost in his own laundry.
-He shot me it the butt with a BB gun.
-He is super skinny. We used to compare our weight to see who weighed less/more. It was always really close. Keep in mind that I am 5' 0" and he is 5' 9"(?).
-Once when talking about the versatility of peanut butter, he added pickles to the list of things it's good on. From personal experience I discovered, however, that peanut butter is not good on pickles.

I always get asked about Jello.

"Is that the one with the hearse?"
When talking about "my brother", they follow, "Are you talking about Jello?"
"Is his name really Jello?"

No, his name is not really Jello. Who names their kid Jello? He actually had an epiphany while I was in high school, burst through my bedroom door, and declared that he is now going by Jello. Whenever we'd hang out together I was sworn to secrecy about his real name.

And that's how my brother named himself Jello.

Oh, and P.S. He had a birthday recently. So if you see him around, tell him he's old.

pfff.....nooooo....

Pssshhh!

What?!?

I didn't fart....

Pffff!

You-hou are weird.

I did not....

I don't know what you're talking about....

....

Aha! Ya got me!

I farted!

love life.

No one asked me how my Valentine's Day went. How rude. FYI: I didn't choose Sterling or Chandler. I'll let them sort that out.

Here are the ones I asked to Be Mine:

The luscious vacuum.

What's wrong with liking the vacuum?

The mouse.

Aww. I like you too, mouse.

 My piggy cup.

 Mommy's crafting stuff.

Mommy.

Daddy.

The End.

voodoo. attempt number one.

I have a Portland bucket list that needs to be completed no later than September (knock on wood). Voodoo Doughnuts just so happens to be on that list. (Other completed list items can be seen HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.)

If you ever visit Portland, the go to place is Voodoo Doughnuts--or so we hear. They have crazy doughnuts like the Bacon Maple Bar, the Voodoo Doll (complete with pretzel stake, no less), and tons topped with cereal and even tang.

We made our venture downtown on Saturday to make a HUGE check on our list.

We drove to the Lloyd Center and rode the MAX into downtown (instead if paying for parking). Here is Scarlett, the perfect exemplar, of how to wait for the MAX in style.

When we got to Voodoo Doughtnuts there was a HUGE line. We decided to wait. I mean if there's a huge line, it's got to be hugely good, right? So wait we did.

Some little girl "sprinkled" some of her precious Voodoo Doughnut in the alley where we were waiting. It was tempting to everyone, but the only one brave enough to step up was this pigeon.

We all drooled in jealousy.

Still stylin' 15 minutes in.

45 minutes in. We almost made it to the corner. You can just see the enthusiasm just bursting from Michael's pores. He's not one to live to eat. He's definitely a "eat to live"-er.

15 minutes to downtown + 15 minutes on the MAX + 45 minutes in line (and only 1/3 of the way there) and we decide to leave. WE DECIDE TO LEAVE! I felt like we had invested so much that we couldn't give up yet. But.

Oh, yes. There's a but.

But now we have Scarlett. And Scarlett was cold. And Scarlett already had a cold.

So, in order to remain in the running for parents on the year, we decided it was best that we not freeze out our baby just for the sake of the best doughnuts ever and being able to put a HUGE red line through list item #8.

We sadly got out of line, bid our fellow Voodoo line members adieu (the lady in front of us even offered to drop some off at our house--we found out we're town neighbors), and avoided stepping in bum spit on our way back to the MAX. Michael met an interesting man on the ride back to our car. He told Michael his whole life story in 3 minutes, admired Scarlett, and gave us this bear out of the garbage sack he was carrying.

It's was really sweet...but that bear was really disgusting. Michael and I still wonder if he was wanting money for it, but he gave it to us just as the doors opened to step off. Oh well.

No doughnuts this round, but we didn't go home empty handed!

P.S. I was wanting a stinking doughnut so bad by the time I got home I tried to make some. Cake donuts are disgusting.

doting? maybe just a little.

Disclaimer: This is a Scarlett-heavy/text-heavy post. You know...those ones I do more for me than for you. I won't be offended if you don't read it, if your not offended I didn't write this for you.

T minus 2 months until Miss Little turns one. That's right, Scarlett is 10 months old. (It's also been a year since I went into pre-term labor.)

Scarlett loves making faces. She'll go from sad-furrowed-brow-face to eyebrows-up-surprised-face to scrunchy-eyed-smile-face back to sad-furrowed-brow-face in a 15 second time frame and it makes me laugh every time. She is full of expressions, and loves trying them all out.

She's kind of bossy, and she refuses to clap. I've seen her do it before, but she finds absolutely no interest in the widely accepted action for cheering. Instead she will take both of my hands and clap my hands together. Rather than clap, she'll move her hands in an oober girly fashion. If she squeezes her hands into fists--she is really excited.

She blows kisses!

She likes to make her sock monkey play peek-a-boo. She covers it's face with it's hands...you know how peek-a-boo goes...then gives a shockingly convincing surprised face as if she had no idea the monkey was there.

My favorite new thing (besides her deciding to finally take 2 naps a day): she'll do something funny, and then she'll laugh at herself. She's also becoming quite the social laugher.

In and out, open and close is the game of everyday. Diapers in the bag, diapers out. Door open, door closed. Spoon in the bowl, spoon out. Drawers open, fingers smashed. Fridge opens, fridge closes and Scarlett is extremely offended. Wipes out, toilet paper off the roll, and towels on the floor.

Scarlett is mostly bottle fed now. Breastfeeding was no longer creating a healthy relationship. And she's gained at least a pound, if not more, in the past 2 weeks, which far beats the almost pound she gained between 6 and 9 months.

She's getting closer and closer to walking. I don't think she'll actually walk until a year though. Fingers crossed.

Lemon juice doesn't even faze her. She actually quite likes it. I keep trying to get her to pull a face, but she ends up liking whatever I give her. She even refused to give me back a slice of onion I gave her.

We are back to cloth diapering. We took a short hiatus over Christmas. No one wants to do that on vacation. And I may or may not have bought a never ending supply of diapers from Costco. Plus, she was leaking out during her naps, and I didn't want to double up because she was just too small and the doubled diapers far too large.

Her favorite sound to make is "ba". But it's not just a simple "ba". She either throws her head back while saying it or moves her whole head like a chicken.

Oh Scarlett. 10 months down, an eternity to go.
